we will not be renewing our subscription
to the Turnitin plagiarism detection service
after December 19, 2008. The decision not to
renew was based on the following:
- We now have a comparable product,
Safe Assignment, for which we are not
charged;
- A survey sent to all full-time and
part-time faculty asking about their use
of Turnitin supported the decision;
- Turnitin log files indicated
relatively low Turnitin usage;
- The Faculty Senate Academic
Technology Committee unanimously
recommended that we not renew Turnitin.
The Safe Assignment plagiarism detection
service is available in all Blackboard
classes and a link to a “how-to” guide is
listed below. Please note: If you are
relying on TurnItIn Assignments for fall
semester grading, be sure they are completed
before the cutoff date of December 19, 2008.
