We will be taking the Blackboard system offline from June 3-6, 2013 in order to update it to the latest service pack and do other end-of-semester maintenance. There will be several new or improved functional differences in this upgrade. New and/or improved are the calendar tool, the discussion board (!), an inline grading tool, a retention center to making it easy for professors to track and contact struggling students, and several new testing options. New in the fall will be a four-part series using PowerPoint 2013. If you haven't yet upgraded to Office 2013 on your home computer, click here for a discussion of your options, We will be repeating some of the most popular workshops from pervious semesters, including the four-part Website in a Month series presented by Chris Norcross. Chris' series will teach you the basics of using WordPress to create and manage a web site—by far the easiest route to web elegance. Lillian Payn will be repeating her critical POET training as well (Introduction to Palomar Online Education Training).

If you are not familiar with it, drop everything and pay attention. This could change your life. The Google Art Project is a gathering of art collections from around the world: 151 institutions, over 9,000 artists, and over 43,000 art works, and counting.
