There have also been some major "under the hood" changes. As with every major upgrade, there are new features and enhanced capabilities, but old features get broken in the process and need to be repaired by a system of patches issued by Blackboard, Inc., or by SQL queries that we are obliged to run locally. We publish the known issues on our About Blackboard page, and remove them as they are resolved.
Just yesterday, Blackboard, Inc. released a new version of the discussion board building block which is much improved. As major new features are released, however, we do not rush to put them on our "production" Blackboard system. First they are placed on our test system and tested with data that replicates the production environment, and then they are placed on our sandbox system so that faculty members can have a chance to preview them. The new discussion board requires the application of Service Pack 11 (SP11). This is another major upgrade, so it will not be applied to the production system until after the end of the current semester. Watch our blog for the announcement of the new discussion board on the sandbox system.
One-on-one Blackboard training by appointment is available for all faculty members by making an appointment with our Blackboard administrators through our helpdesk system. There are also many helpful video tutorials available on our Using Blackboard page.

Google Search Tips & Tricks
We have been concentrating on Google Search techniques lately, and delivered a related workshop on January 29. Read our blog post that contains the most helpful information from the workshop, and then follow-up posts on using Ctrl-F (Mac Command-F) for finding search strings on web pages, and our post on the Search Contest Quiz that was part of the workshop.
