Blackboard 9 is Coming
Blackboard 9 will be implemented in spring 2011. In fact, it is live now for faculty members (but not students). Your last chance for formal training will be our Winter Tech Camp, to be held January 3-6, 2011. Seating is limited, so sign-up now by contacting the PD Office, (760) 744-1150 ext. 2250.
If you cannot attend Winter Tech Camp, be sure to visit the Blackboard On Demand Learning Center to get up to speed with Blackboard 9. (As you will see, it is VERY different from previous versions of Blackboard). If you want to experiment, faculty members have "play" courses set up on our Blackboard 9 sandbox system. If you wish, you can use these as developmental areas. For one-on-one assistance in migrating your content from Blackboard 8 to Blackboard 9, contact email@example.com, or call (760) 744-1150 ext. 2862.
Blackboard with Cream & Sugar
If you have Blackboard questions, or just want to chat (or complain) about Blackboard, drop by for one of our "Blackbaord with Cream and Sugar" sessions. On Wednesday November 24 betweem 7:30AM to 10:30AM, and on every Wednesday through the end of the year, we'll make the coffee, you bring the questions and comments. Come to room LL-111 where the Blackboard guys (Dave, Shay and Chris) will be available with hot coffee and tea. Drop by and have a cup. Stay five minutes or the full three hours. You can feel free to ask them anything, or strike up a conversation with another Blackboard user. Since we thought these events needed a little structure, there will be a brief (15 minutes or less) presentations given.
We hope you can make time to drop by, have some coffee, and enjoy some stimulating and educational conversation during one of our "Blackboard with Cream & Sugar" sessions.
Last Call for Media
Time is running out. If you have not yet brought your media to our offices to be re-encoded for the new system it will no longer play after 12/31/10. Our new streaming media solution delivers much higher quality video, in a more secure manner, but in order to take advantage of these technical advances we must re-encode all videos and audio files. The hour is late to get this work performed. Please do not ignore this last call for media.
