Using Personal RF Polling Devices (Clickers) in the Classroom

Facilitated by:  Haydn Davis, Academic Technology
Date:  TBA Training
Time:  Call ext. 2341 to arrange time
Location:  LL-110
PD Hours:  1 Hour

Radio frequency polling devices are a great way to focus discussion and retain attention during a classroom presentation or meeting.  Palomar College now provides these devices for checkout to faculty and staff.  We have also site licensed the software for creating polls, which can be self-contained or integrated into PowerPoint.  This workshop explains how it all works.  You will be up and running with your own polls after attending.

We have purchased 64 each Classroom Performance System radio frequency personal response systems, in 2 sets of 32, each set with its own base station.  Known as "clickers" for short, they can be checked out from Academic Technology for classroom/meeting use.

The clickers are produced by a company called eInstruction, and require CPS software installation.  We have site licensed the CPS software for District use (PC or Mac).

You may download and install the CPS software on your own system.  Click here to login and download (use your Palomar email address and email password to login).

Click here to reserve the personal response system.  You may reserve for one-time meetings, or for each meeting per semester.  You must attend Academic Technology training on the use of the clickers before checking them out.  To obtain training, call ext. 2341, or email hdavis@palomar.edu.

See our podcast notes, episode 13, for a discussion of these clickers.

If you cannot attend this training session, but want to use the clickers in the course of the semester, contact Haydn Davis directly (x2341, hdavis@palomar.edu) for details.

Prerequisite: Familiarity with PoewrPoint would be useful, but not necessary.

Limit: 10 participants.
