II.  A Word on Being Organized

The ideal delivery of this workshop would be to discuss strategies for organization, and then realize them in the best personal information management program around: Microsoft Outlook.

That would be a tall order.  Our workshop will last only 3 hours, and we must emphasize Outlook 'hands-on how-to" skills, rather than more general how to get organized skills.  These general skills are, in the long run, much more important than the specific how-to-accomplish-an-action skills.  There are many general organizational schemes, but I think it is fair to say the following is true of any scheme:

  1. Self-discipline and consistency are the keys to success.

  2. Sticking with any scheme is better than having a great scheme and abandoning it.

If you are interested in applying a world-class organization scheme to Outlook, we recommend the following book:

Take Back Your Life! by Sally McGhee, Microsoft Press, ISBN 0-7356-2040-7 (Amazon link).
