Respondus
is a Windows application that enhances
the functions and features of
Blackboard's exam and survey tools.
Respondus allows you to author exams
offline, import existing questions from
a word processing file, and also allows
you to either publish the quizzes
directly to your Blackboard courses or
print out the quizzes for hard-copy
testing.
StudyMate
is an authoring tool that lets you
create ten different Flash-based
activities and games using three simple
templates. The Flash activities can be
either posted on your own website or
published directly into your Blackboard
courses.
Both
Respondus and StudyMate allow you to
download publisher test banks for
textbooks that have been adopted in your
classes (there is no charge for this
service). Information about the
Respondus Test Bank Network is available
at
www.respondus.com .
You can
obtain your own copy of the Respondus and/or StudyMate
software by downloading it from our
Respondus/Studymate web site.
To reach this website you will have
to supply your Palomar College account information.
Use
the same username and password you would use when
accessing your Palomar webmail.
This web page will supply detailed
installation and registration
information.
Please
note that you are not able to download
the software directly from the Respondus
website, nor are you able to use the
password listed above to activate a copy
previously downloaded from their site.
Context-sensitive help is available
throughout the software by pressing the
F1 key. It is also available by
selecting "Help" from the pull-down menu
on the toolbar. Repondus and StudyMate
User Guides (in Adobe PDF format) can
also be downloaded from the Palomar
Respondus and StudyMate website. Also
there are links from that website to
demonstration movies hosted on the
Respondus website that provide a good
introduction to the software.
If you
have questions or problems using the
Respondus or StudyMate software, you
should first consult the online help or
the User Guide. If you are still unable
to resolve your problem, direct your
questions to the Blackboard Support

license with Respondus, Inc. does NOT
permit instructors to obtain support
directly from Respondus, Inc. If our
staff is unable to solve a particular
question or problem, we will contact
Respondus, Inc. on your behalf.
Our
license DOES permit you to install the
Respondus and StudyMate programs on a
home computer. However please note that
you are not permitted to provide the
software or the password information to
anyone who is not affiliated with
Palomar. Such an action would be a
violation of our licensing agreement
with Respondus and would be illegal.
