New
online, facilitated Teaching with Blackboard training
course available from @ONE
Introduction to Teaching with Blackboard 6.0
with Greg Beyrer
Monday April 24 - Friday, May 12 (3 weeks)
Are you interested in learning how to use
Blackboard v6.0 to teach online? In this course,
you’ll experience Blackboard from both student and
instructor perspectives, while creating an outline
for your own online course. You’ll also learn how to
include content from publishers’ course packs,
giving you more teaching power. This course is
recommended for faculty who are new to Blackboard.
Learning Outcomes
- The use of common Blackboard features such
as posting an online syllabus, discussion board,
assignments, quizzes, and grade books
- The ability to include content from
publishers course packs
- The different perspectives of BB from both
students and instructor views
Hours Required
This is a three-week course. Course
completion, which includes readings, online
discussions, and assignments, will take
approximately ten hours per week.
Recommended Skills
- Basic computer skills (use of word
processor, email, organize files, and
compression/decompression)
- Basic Internet skills (use of browser,
searches, uploading and downloading files)
- Familiarity with discussion boards
- Familiarity working with images a plus
- Have access to a Blackboard account after
the workshop
Technical Requirements
- Fairly recent (not older than 3 years) Mac
or PC with a current operating system
- Internet connection, preferably broadband (
DSL speeds), but a 56k modem will do.
