Reminders to instructors

  • To admint students to your current semester classes who wish to fulfill previous semester incompletes, contact the admissions and records office.
  • Backup/archive your courses regularly to be sure you do not lose information.  Be sure to do weekly (or more frequent) backups of your Blackboard gradebook.
  • Be sure to keep local copies of all materials you upload to Blackboard.
  • If you need a developmental Blackboard course set up for next semester (summer) email onlineclasses@palomar.edu or call ext. 2862.

Upcoming AT Training

  • Wednesday, 2/8 "Introduction to Blackboard"
  • Thursday, 2/9 "How to add quick audio to your web/Blackboard site"
  • Friday, 2/10 "Blackboard Certificate Program," meeting #1
  • Go to our training schedule to get the details

Blackboard feature of the week

  • The performance dashboard allows you to see the last time your students logged in to Blackboard.  This can be used as a retention tool.  If they haven't logged in lately, you might want to send an email or make a phone call.  Contact Blackboard Support for more information.

Tech Talk Topic

StudyMate

StudyMate is a fun and easy program that can be used to create Flash-based learning objects and place them on your Palomar web site or within your Blackboard courses.  It creates activities, games and puzzles like flash cards, fill-in-the-blanks, guell-a-letter, matching, crosswords, multiple-choice quizzes, and a Jeopardy-like game called "Challenge."  The activities are based on simple input by you, or by importing pre-created input from your textbook publishers.  See our StudyMate training page for more details.  StudyMate is downloadable software for PCs only.  To download the software, go to our software page.

Gizmo of the week
