PERSONAL: Full name is David Tiave Motu. ... Born Aug. 6, 1989 in Honolulu,  HI. ... Son of Taoa and Esehia Motu. ... Has two adult sisters, Seloa Motu and Selina Motu.

2008 SEASON: All-Southern Conference first-team selection. ... Led the Comets with 73 tackles (including 39 solo tackles) while playing in 10 of 11 games and missing the other one with an injury. Also has an interception, 3.5 sacks, five tackles for losses, two forced fumbles and two quarterback hurries. ... Contributed three tackles in a 21-19 season-opening victory over Southwestern on Sept. 6. ... Had six tackles (two solo) in 16-0 win over Victor Valley on Sept.13. ... Contributed a team-high 10 tackles (seven solo), intercepted a pass and also had a quarterback hurry in 37-17 rout of San Diego Mesa on Sept. 20. ... Had eight tackles (six solo), a sack and a tackle for a loss in a -41 victory over College of  the Desert in four overtimes on Sept. 27 as the Comets handed the Roadrunners their first regular-season loss since 2006. ... Had eight tackles (six solo), a sack and a tackle for a loss vs. Grossmont on Oct. 4. ... Came up big vs. Saddleback on Oct. 11 with 11 tackles (three solo), a sack and two tackles for losses. ... Suffered a dislocated shoulder in a 38-14 victory at Santa Ana on Oct. 18 but came back in the game and finished the evening with six tackles, including two solo. ... Had five tackles and a forced fumble vs. Fullerton on Nov. 1. ... Contributed eight tackles to tie for the team lead, including seven solo tackles to lead the team, in a 41-14 victory over Orange Coast on Nov. 8 as the Comets ended the regular season 7-3. Had a tackle for a loss and a half-sack in the game. ... Ended an outstanding two-year career for the Comets with eight tackles (five solo) and a quarterback hurry on Nov. 22 as the Comets downed Cerritos 38-33 in the Golden Empire Bowl at Bakersfield to conclude an 8-3 season.

2007 SEASON: Played for the Comets as a true freshman. ... Had 29 tackles, four for losses, and also recovered two fumbles and had a quarterback hurry.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Played for coach John Carroll at Oceanside High. ... Had five sacks for the Pirates as a senior during the 2006 season.
