SEASON: Coming off two surgeries which delayed the
start of his college basketball career, Smith has
started 20 games while missing 2 games due to a minor
injury and illness, averaging 6.5
points and 5.6 rebounds per game but contributing most
with his defense, ball-handling, presence inside and leadership,
taking some pressure off 7-foot-1 center Joe Vaz. ...
Passed off for 5 assists as Palomar opened the season by
routing Glendale (AZ) Community College 90-63 in the
first round of the Frank Garcia Tipoff Tournament on
Nov. 8 at College of the Desert. ... Had his first
double-double of the season on Nov. 10, scoring 11
points and grabbing 10 rebounds as the Comets defeated
Los Angeles Trade Telch 80-68 in the third-place game.
... Hauled in 7 rebounds as Palomar defeated
Barstow 92-66 to begin the Fullerton Holiday Tournament
on Nov. 15. ... Scored 12 points in a 78-72 loss to
Saddleback in the championship semifinals. ... Had 7

in a 73-56 victory over Los Angeles Trade ech on Dec. 4

quarterfinals of the 16-team tournament on Nov. 6.....
Tallied 12 points in a 72-62 win vs. San Diego City
College in the semifinals the next night. ... Scored 10
points in a 71-67 championship-game loss to Saddleback
on Nov. 8, giving him four-of-four double-figure scoring
performances in the tournament and putting him on the

Was a McDonald's All-American nominee. ... Had three
straight 30-plus point games in four days, scoring 31
points in a 75-37 victory over Ganesha, 33 points and 11
rebounds in a 62-53 win over Charter Oak and 34 points
in a 78-51 rout of Monrovia. ... Also had 11 rebounds in
a 66-34 win over Santa Ana.
