2012-2013 SEASON: Coming off two surgeries which delayed the start of his college basketball career, Smith has started 20 games while missing 2 games due to a minor injury and illness, averaging 6.5 points and 5.6 rebounds per game but contributing most with his defense, ball-handling, presence inside and leadership, taking some pressure off 7-foot-1 center Joe Vaz. ... Passed off for 5 assists as Palomar opened the season by routing Glendale (AZ) Community College 90-63 in the first round of the Frank Garcia Tipoff Tournament on Nov. 8 at College of the Desert. ... Had his first double-double of the season on Nov. 10, scoring 11 points and grabbing 10 rebounds as the Comets defeated Los Angeles Trade Telch 80-68 in the third-place game. ... Hauled in 7 rebounds as  Palomar defeated Barstow 92-66 to begin the Fullerton Holiday Tournament on Nov. 15. ... Scored 12 points in a 78-72 loss to Saddleback in the championship semifinals. ... Had 7 points and 7 assists as the Comets downed Fullerton 92-85 to on the first night of the Palomar Thanksgiving Tournament on Nov. 23.  ... Dished off 5 assists in a championship-game loss to defending state champion and state No. 1-ranked Fresno City College two nights later. ... Had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds in a 73-56 victory over Los Angeles Trade ech on Dec. 4 to begin the 41st Riverside Holiday Tournament. ... Had 11 points and 4 assists as the Comets knocked off the host team, Riverside City College, 59-55 in the quarterfinals of the 16-team tournament on Nov. 6..... Tallied 12 points in a 72-62 win vs. San Diego City College in the semifinals the next night. ... Scored 10 points in a 71-67 championship-game loss to Saddleback on Nov. 8, giving him four-of-four double-figure scoring performances in the tournament and putting him on the all-tourney team. ... Grabbed 8 rebounds in a 60-53 win over El Camino on Dec. 18. ... Coming back strong from a strained knee, scored 11 points and drained three 3-point shots in a 1:50 span late in the second half to help lift the Comets past MiraCosta 77-69 on Jan. 11. ... Had a pair of big blocks in a 95-59 win over Miramar on Jan. 23. ... Helped the Comets down San Diego Mesa 98-72 in a crucial Pacific Coast Athletic Conference game on Jan. 25 with 9 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

COLLEGE: Originally enrolled at Citrus Community College as a gray-shirt. Then came to Palomar as a red-shirt.

HIGH SCHOOL: Averaged 21.8 points and 5.9 rebounds a game as a senior at Glendora High School during the 2009-10 season, making the All-CIF Southern Section Division 2AA first-team as the Tartans went 18-9. ... Was a McDonald's All-American nominee. ... Had three straight 30-plus point games in four days, scoring 31 points in a 75-37 victory over Ganesha, 33 points and 11 rebounds in a 62-53 win over Charter Oak and 34 points in a 78-51 rout of Monrovia. ... Also had 11 rebounds in a 66-34 win over Santa Ana.

ACADEMICS: Art Education major. ... Had a 3.33 grade-point average in high school and a 3.8 GPA for the Fall 2012 semester at Palomar.
