HIGH SCHOOL: Wonderlich was an all-conference first-team selection as a third baseman and pitcher his sophomore, junior and senior seasons at Vallivue H.S.under coach Leland Sasaki. Former Palomar pitcher Frank Wyatt was his pitching coach. ... He batted .419 as a senior with seven home runs. ... He hit .478 as a junior with eight home runs, and batted .383 as a sophomore with two homers. ... Wonderlich also was 8-1 pitching as a senior. ... He helped Vallivue advance to the State championship game as a junior. ... Wonderlich, a USA Today All-American honorable mention pick as a senior in 1999, also made the Idaho All-State team as a senior. ... He played for Team Idaho between his junior and senior seasons.

2000 SEASON: Wonderlich was 1-0 pitching for Albertson College (formerly College of Idaho), which advanced to the NAIA World Series.

2001 SEASON: Wonderlich was a solid contributor as a part-time player in the outfield and as a designated hitter for the Comets. ... He appeared in 16 games and hit .310. .... He batted .333 in a part-time role during the Pacific Coast Conference season. ... He went 2-for-4 against Saddleback on Feb. 9.
