2002 SEASON: Received an injury redshirt after sufferiring a season-ending elbow injury, before undergoing successful surgery after the season. ... Had a 3-0 record and ERA's of 3.27 on the year and 2.25 in the Pacific Coast Conference but because of the injury didn't have any appearances after Feb. 28, when he beat PCC champion Grossmont on the road. ... Struck out 27 and walked only 10. ... Threw seven innings of five-hit, one-run ball Feb. 8 at Golden West but left the game without getting a decision. ... His other wins came on a seven-inning, four-hit performance against Irvine Valley on Feb. 16, when he struck out eight, and vs. Imperial Valley on Feb. 23 when he scattred six hits and didn't give up an earned run in seven innings, and also struck out eight. ... Was a pre-season All-PCC selection by San Diego County College Baseball.

2001 SEASON: Won a spot in Palomar's starting rotation early on and finished the season 8-2 with a 3.47 earned run average, 42 strikeouts and 22 walks. ... Owned a 2.91 ERA entering the postseason. ... Fleming's victories came over Long Beach City College, Southwestern, Imperial Valley, Grossmont, Imperial Valley again, Golden Wes, San Diego City College and Imperial Valley in the final game of the regular season when he threw five innings of two-hit, shutout ball in relief. ... He teamed with Paul Sweeney to shut out San Diego City, 4-0, on April 19. ... Fleming finished the Pacific Coast Conference season with a 6-1 record and a 1.74 ERA, which was third best in the conference trailing only Grossmont's Jared Hemus (1.36) and Palomar teammate Eric Human (1.73). ... Offensively, Fleming slugged a home run in the second inning for the first run of a March 3 game as the Comets went on to pin a 6-0 loss on eventual conference champion Grossmont. ... Honorable mention on the All-Pacific Coast Conference team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Fleming is the first Valley Center High alum to play baseball for Palomar and he arrives with outstanding credentials. Fleming, who played for former Comet outfielder Bill Dunckel for the Jaguars, was the 2000 Valley League Player of the Year and led Valley Center to the 2000 CIF-San Diego Section Division III championship game. ... The Jaguars were 16-0 in league play . ... Was a two-time all-league pick and an All-North County selection (as selected by the North County Times) . Fleming batted .366 as a junior with four home runs and 21 RBIs and also was 4-2 pitching. As a senior, he hit .360 with one HR and 3 RBI's ---- and was 6-1 pitching. Fleming also was a two-time all-leaguie pick, Player of the Year as a senior and All-North County selection in basketball, where he averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds as a junior, and 30 points and 20 rebounds as a senior. ... He played in both the Jack Taylor County All-Star Game in baseball and was MVP at the North County All-Star Basketball Game. ... Finished fourth in the state in basketball scoring as a senior, and topped 1,000 points for his high school career.... Attended Orange Glen his freshman and sophomore years before Valley Center opened.

PERSONAL: Born Aug. 27, 1982 in La Jolla. ... Son of Wesley Fleming and Laura Kendall. ... Has one brother, Brian Fleming (16).... Carried a 3.6 grade-point average in high school, was listed twice in Who's Who of American High School Students and had a score of 1,190 on his SAT. ... Lives in Valley Center.
