Drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 33rd round of the June 2000 Draft

HIGH SCHOOL: Was first-team All-Valley League, Valley League Most Valuable Player and first-team All-CIF-San Diego Section at Ramona as a senior in 1999 under coach Dave Lohman. Batted .426 his senior season and had an 8-1 pitching record with a 2.92 ERA. ... Played in the 2A-3A All-Star game after his senior season. ... Also played quarterback in football for the Bulldogs and was among San Diego County's premier QBs his junior and senior seasons.

2000 SEASON: Transfered to Palomar after playing football for Saint Mary's in the Fall. ... Defeated Canada College of Redwood City, a returning State Final Four team, on Feb. 6, then surrendered only two runs on four hits the first six innings in a game at Cypress on Feb. 12 before tiring and leaving the game in the seventh. ... Came back with a victory over College of the Siskiyous on Feb. 13, when he pitched six innings of four-hit ball, striking out eight, but was slowed by a back problem the rest of the season.

2001 SEASON: Rebounding strongly from his health problems of a year ago finished the season with a 1.66 earned run average. ... Regained much of his velocity under new Palomar pitching coach Pat Edwards. ... Combined with three other Palomar pitchers to throw a no-hitter against College of the Siskiyous on Feb. 18 as the Comets won, 15-1. ... Threw three innings of one-hit, shutout ball in a 5-0 win over San Diego City College on March 15, and combined with five other pitchers to shut out Imperial Valley, 6-0, on May 1. But his most impressive performance may have come April 13 when he pitched two shutout innings in a 8-3 win at Golden West.
