2002 SEASON: Won a starting job after being effective as a reliever all season and was 5-1 with a 4.08 ERA going into the postseason including a 4-0 shutout victory over Imperial Valley on April 11. ... He finished 6-1 with a 4.70 ERA, with 55 strikeouts in 68 1/3innings. ... His strikeout total led the team. ... Pitched a complete-game seven-hitter, giving up only two earned runs, to beat Mt. SAC 9-4 in the Palomar Easter Series tournament on March 26. ... Also started the Comets' game at Imperial Valley on March 9 and gave up one earned run in four innings and was the winner as a starter vs.San Diego Mesa on April 18. ... Finished the regular season with win a 5-3 win over Southwestern on May 2 when he gave up two earned runs in 5 1/3 innings. ... Also had shutout relief appearances against Cochise (Ariz.) on Feb. 1, Imperial Valley on Feb. 23, Southwestern on March 5, Grossmont over 3 2/3 innings on March 21 and Southwestern on April 8. ... Had had three other appearances in which he did not give up an earned run.

HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from San Marcos High School in 2000. ... Played for coach Eric Morton and received Best Defense, Pitcher of the Year and the Coaches awards for the Knights. ... Was recognized on the honor roll.
