2002 SEASON: Consistently effective in the closer's role for the Comets throughout the 2002 season , striking out 20 and walking only sixe in 20 2/3 innings. ... Compiled a 2.37 earned run average for the regular season and finished the year with a 3.78 ERA. ... Led the team with five saves. ... Finished with a 2.19 earned run average in the Pacific Coast Conference. ... Was the winning pitcher in Palomar's third victory of the season, a 9-5 win over Los Angeles Pierce on Feb. 3 when he threw 1 2/3 innings of no-hit, shutout relief, striking out two and walking one. He retired all five batters he faced. ... Also retired defending champion and first-place Grossmont 1-2-3 in the ninth inning on March 19, striking out two of the three batters he faced, to pick up a save, and recorded his second save March 28 vs. Golden West. Picked up his third save April 2 on the road against San Diego City College and his fourth save with an inning of shutout relief on April 8. ... In addition, has had shutout relief appearances against Cypress on Feb. 9, Golden West on Feb. 12, Orange Coast on Feb. 20, Imperial Valley on Feb. 23 and San Diego City College on March 2. ... Had back-to-back strong performances against Grossmont and San Diego City College on April 23 and April 25, but was the victim of unearned runs in Palomar losses. .... Has come on strong after successfully undergoing arthroscopic knee surgry in the off-season.

2002 POSTSEASON: Recorded his fifth save of the year in a Southern California Regional victory over Glendale on May 11 at Casey Stengel Field in Glendale.

2001 SEASON: Batted .286 in conference games for the Comets as an outfielder and designated hitter. ... His best performance came April 12 as he helped lead Palomar to a 15-4 victory over Golden West to clinch the championship in the Palomar Easter Series. He went 3-for-4 in the game with a double and an RBI. He also was hit by a pitch. ... Had an outstanding catch in a game against College of the Siskiyous on Feb. 18 when he went up the bank in right-center field to rob the Eagles' Brant Davis of an extra-base hit.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played four years on the varsity under coach Steve Hargrave at Rancho Buena Vista H.S., splitting his time between right field and pitching. ... Also played varsity basketball at RBV for current Palomar basketball assistant John O'Neill.

PERSONAL: Born July 4, 1981 in Los Alamitos, CA. ... Son of Larry and Toni Albright. ... His father started at shortstop for Long Beach City College and Long Beach State. ... Has one brother, Kyle, 24, who was a starting outfielder and All-Pacific Coast Conference first-team selection for Palomar and later was a starting outfielder for Cal Poly (San Luis Obispo). ... Cousin of Eric Albright, a pitcher in the Chicago Cubs organization.
