pitcher out of the bullpen before two spectacular
late-season starts.
... Led the team with an ERA of 0.91 (best single-season
mark in Palomar history) and 41 strikeouts
and seven walks in 39 1/3 innings. ... Compiled a 1.12
ERA for Pacific Coast Conference games with 22
strikeouts and five walks in 24 innings. ... All-Pacific
Coast Conference honorable mention. ... Pitched 2 2/3 scoreless
innings, allowing one hit and striking out four, against
San
Bernardino Valley on Feb. 9. ... Came on to pitch a
scoreless eighth inning at Grossmont on Feb. 28, helping
preserve the Comets' 8-6 victory. ... Pitched 2 1/3
innings of shutout relief ball against Pacific Coast
Conference leader Southwestern on March 1. ... Shut out
San Diego City College over 1 1/3 innings on March 8 as
Palomar won 4-2. ... Came in to get a double-play
groundball to get the Comets' out of a bases-loaded,
one-out jam in the seventh inning of a 13-4 win at San
Diego Mesa on March 11. ... Gave up his first run of the
season in a three-inning relief stint vs. Orange Coast
on March 19. Left the game in the ninth inning in favor
of a right-hander to pitch to a right-hander with a
runner on first, one out. The run scored later in the
inning. Struck out five Pirates and walked none after
coming on with runners at second and third and one out
in the sixth and getting the Comets out of the inning on
a strikeout and grounder back to the mound.... Pitched 2
1/3 innings without allowing an earned run in 7-5
victory over Grossmont on March 25. ... Threw 2 1/3
innings of one-hit, scoreless ball in a 6-2 road win
over San Diego City College on April 8, striking out
three. ... Finally got his first start on April 19 at
Grossmont and stopped the heavy-hitting Griffins in
their tracks with seven shutout innings, allowing only
three hits while striking out five and walking none.
Grossmont scored six times in the bottom of the eights,
after Strom left the game, eventually winning 11-6 as
he notched the win. ... Pitched into the seventh inning
before leaving the game with a 3-1 lead against Pacific
Coast Conference champion Southwestern on April 26. Had
a four-hitter going through six innings and wound up
with five strikeouts and no earned runs. Was charged
with two runs that scored after he left the game. ...
Pitched Palomar's first complete-game shutout since 2006
on May 6 as the Comets downed Santa Barbara City College
3-0 on his four-hitter to begin the Southern California
Regionals. Struck out 10 and walked none.
