HOMETOWN: Clovis, CA / Vista, CA

HIGH SCHOOL: Clovis (2003)

PERSONAL: Born May 10, 1985, in Fresno. ... Son of Ed Pickens and Lisa Pearlstein. ... Has three brothers (Zach Pickens, Matt Pickens and Ryan Pearlstein) and three sisters (Afton Ramon, Adison Pickens and Michelle Pickens). ... Grandfather was an outfielder in the Philadelphia A's organization in the late 1940s and early '50s.

2007 SEASON: Was hampered due to an injury to his throwing arm, appearing most of the time at designated hitter, but became a frequent starter in left field. ... Hit .324 for 71 at-bats as one of the Comets' most dangerous hitters, appearing in 23 games and starting 16. ... Batted .289 in Pacific Coast Conference games. ... Drove in 15 runs in those 23 games. ... Went 2-for-5 with two RBIs in a 7-2 win over Ventura on Feb. 3. ... Went 3-for-6 and drove in three runs as the Comets outscored Citrus 15-13 on Feb. 10. ... Was 3-for-5 and drove in a run in an 18-3 rout of Los Angeles Pierce on  Feb. 17. ... Doubled in an 8-3 win over Southwestern on March 10. ... Doubled to drive in a run in a road game against San Diego City College on March 29, during a six-run ninth-inning rally by the Comets that fell one run short. ... Went 2-for-4 as the Comets downed the Knights 9-2 on March 31. ... Homered in his final at-bat against Golden West on April 3. ... Came back the next day to slug a three-run homer in his first at-bat in the first inning, helping lift the Comets to an 8-3 win victory over Mt. San Jacinto. ... Went 2-for-4 in an 8-4 win over Grossmont on April 19. ... Went 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI, two runs scored and was hit by a pitch as the Comets closed out the season with an 8-2 win over San Diego City College on May 3.

HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL / FOOTBALL: Played baseball for coach James Patrick at Clovis High School. ... Was team MVP as a senior, playing for Valley championship teams in 2001, 2002 and 2003 and being named to the  the Greater Fresno All-Star Team. .
