PERSONAL: Born Jan. 7, 1988, at Tri-City Hospital in Oceanside. ... Son of Gary and Janice Stepan. ... Has one brother, Jarett (17), and three adult sisters -- Leslie, Kristy and Jennifer.

2007 SEASON: Batted .444 on the season for nine at-bats, best on the team, and .600 in Pacific Coast Conference games backing up Tim Deering at second base. Also utilized as a pinch-hitter, pinch-runner and designated hitter. ... Appeared in 15 games. . ... Contributed his first community college hit on March 1,  a pinch-hit single to left field in a 12-2 win on the road against Imperial Valley. ... Went 1-for-1, scored two runs and drove in four runs in a 16-0 rout of the Arabs on April 24. ... Also went 1-for-1 vs. conference champion San Diego Mesa on April 28.

HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL: Second-team All-Avocado League selection as a junior in 2005 and first-team all-league as a senior in 2006 at Fallbrook High School. ... Graduated with a 3.2 grade-point average and received San Diego Union-Tribune academic honor roll recognition in both 2005 and 2006. ... Also received Athlete of the Month recognition.
