PERSONAL: Born Aug. 18, 1987, in Escondido. ... Son of Juan and Gloria Ibarra. ... Juan Ibarra played third base for MiraCosta College and on the four-year college level.

2006 SEASON: Projected as a bright prospect for his 2007 sophomore season,  Ibarra appeared in 6 games as a reliever for the Comets, pitching 6 1/3 innings and striking out 5 batters. ... Had an ERA of 0.00 for 2 innings in 2 appearances in the Pacific Coast Conference. ... Threw a scoreless inning in relief in a 10-3 victory over Sacramento City College, the eventual runner-up in the California State Community College Championships, on Feb. 4. ... Retired Imperial Valley with a 1-2-3 eighth inning on a groundout, strikeout and pop-up, as the Comets rocked the Arabs 12-1 on March 6. ... Pitched an inning of shutout ball, striking out 2, in an 8-0 win over Imperial Valley on April 4. Combined with Nick Vincent, the Comets' No. 1 pitcher, and 4 other relievers to throw a 2-hit shutout.

2006 SUMMER WOOD BAT BASEBALL:  Has compiled an ERA of 0.67 with 2 saves for the Fayetteville SwampDogs in the Coastal Plains League as of July 26. Has struck out 41 batters and walked 7 in 27 innings.

HIGH SCHOOL: Was Pitcher of the Year three straight seasons at Murrieta Valley High, where he played for coach Carlos Santiago. ... Helped Nighthawks reach the CIF-Southern Section Division III semifinals.
