2005 SEASON: Finished the season with a 2-0 record, a 4.50 earned run average and 11 strikeouts in 16 innings as Palomar became the first San Diego County team to reach the State Championship game in 31 years. ... Threw an inning of shutout relief in the Comets' 9-2 win over Cerritos on Feb. 5, retiring the side in order without a ball being hit out of the infield. ... Pitched an inning of scoreless relief vs. Touthwestern on March 12, retiring the Jaguars in order in the ninth inning. ... Threw an inning of shutout relief in the Comets' 9-2 win over San Diego Mesa on March 31. ... Pitched a shutout inning in a 11-1 win at San Diego Mesa on April 26. Allowed 1 baserunner by hitting the bartter with the pitch, but got out of the inning with a double-play groundball. ... Pitched a scoreless inning in relief in a 6-3 victory over Grossmont on May 4, striking out 3 batters. Southern California Regional Round 1 — Came on in relief to pick up the victory in the Comets' second post-season game, a 7-4, 11-inning win over Santa Barbara City College on May 15. Pitched 3 innings of 2-hit, scoreless ball, striking out 2 and walking 0. Super Regionals — Pitched a shutout inning in relief in a loss to Southwestern on May 20, then came back to throw two-thirds of a shutout inning May 22 and picked up the victory in a 5-4, 10-inning win over Southwestern on May 22 that put the Comets in the championship game. State Final Four — Pitched 4 1/3 innings in relief vs. Santa Rosa on May 30, giving up 2 earned runs. The Bear Cats won 5-1 to force an extra game in the double-elimination tournament, then won the State Championship by beating the Palomar again and forcing the Comets to settle for a State runner-up finish.
