out 8, to give the Comets a 5-0 win over
Rio Hondo in an elimination game on May
27. This came after Cueva had thrown only
12 1/3 innings in the previous 38 games.
His performance set the stage for
Palomar's 2 wins the following day that
put them in the State Final Four for the
first time ever. State
Final Fou Started and itched
2 1/3 innings vs. Santa Rosa on May 30.
Took only his second loss of the season
as the Bear Cubs won 5-1 to force an
extra game in the double-elimination
tournament. Santa Rosa won the second
game to clinch its first State title in
53 years and relegate the Comets to a
State runner-up finish.
