2003: Started every game at third base for the Comets and finished the season as the club's third-leading hitter with a .388 average. ... A first-team All-Pacific Coast Conference selection. ... Led the club in hits (73) with 2 home runs, 9 doubles, a triple and 21 steals in 23 attempts, ranking him fifth on the all-time Palomar list, trailing only Tim Mulligan, Ron Howard, his old high school coach Billy Dunckel and Kyle Floquet. ... Hit .374 in the Pacific Coast Conference. ... Was the leadoff hitter in all 42 games. ... Also played often-spectacular defense. ... Possibly the best defensive third baseman the Comets have had since current assistant coach Brian Kooiman, who went on to star at San Diego State and play pro baseball. ... Went 2-for-4 vs. San Diego City College on April 29. ... Doubled, walked 3 times, scored 4 runs and stole a pair of bases in a 20-0 victory over Imperial Valley on April 30. Postseason — Went a spectacular 9-for-16 in the Southern California Regionals as he helped lead the Comets to the Site D championship game. ... Hit safely in his first 7 at-bats in the postseason. ... Went 5-for-5 with a double, RBI, 4 runs scored and 2 steals in Palomar's Regional opener, a 13-8 victory over East Los Angeles. ... Went 2-for-4 with a double in a 3-0 loss to eventual Regional champion Santa Ana. ... Contributed a single and a steal in an 11-7 win over College of the Desert in the Comets' third game of the Regionals. ... Singled, walked twice, scored a run and stole his fourth base of the postseason in the Regional finals, when Palomar led Santa Ana 4-2 in the ninth inning before finally losing.

2002: Made second-team All-Great Plains Athletic Conference as an infielder at the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, S.D. ... Batted .432 with 7 doubles, a triple and 23 stolen bases. ... Also played soccer at Sioux Falls, making the All-Great Plains Athletic Conference second team.

HIGH SCHOOL: Played for former Palomar star, San Diego State All-American outfielder and Angels minor leaguer Bill Dunckel at Valley Center High School. ... Helped lead the Jaguars to two Valley League championships and two CIF-San Diego Section Division III championship-game appearances. ... Made first-team All-Valley League as a junior. Then, as a senior, was first-team All-Valley League, first-team All-North County, team MVP and Golden Bat award winner.
