Directions To Palomar College

ADDRESS: 1140 West Mission Road San Marcos, CA., 92069 From Interstate 5 (Either Northbound or Southbound): Take Highway 78 Eastbound (Inland) towards the city of Escondido. Stay on Highway 78 for approximately 12 miles. Take the Rancho Santa Fe Road exit off of Highway 78. You will exit to the right and go to the stop light at the top of the hill. Turn left onto Rancho Santa Fe Road. You will cross over the top of Highway 78 heading in a Northbound Direction. Continue on Rancho Santa Fe Road for approximately .3 (one-third) of a mile to Mission Road. Turn right onto Mission Road (Rancho Santa Fe Road dead ends at Mission Road and you must make a turn). Continue on Mission road for approximately .5 (one-half) mile (two stop lights). Palomar College will be on your left side. There is a stop light at the entrance into the college. The first building on the right as you enter the campus will be the Campus Police Department. They will provide you with a "temporary" parking permit and direct you towards the gymnasium (aka "The DOME"). The "DOME" will be the big golf ball like building to your right as you enter the campus parking lot immediately after the Campus Police Department building. From Interstate 15 (Either Northbound or Southbound): Take Highway 78 Westbound (towards the Pacific Ocean) towards the city of Oceanside. Stay on Highway 78 for approximately 5 miles. Take the San Marcos Blvd. exit. You will exit to the right and come to a stop light at the intersection of San Marcos Blvd and Knoll Road. Continue straight ahead on Knoll Road until you come to the intersection of Knoll Road and Mission Road. You will see a NAPA Auto Parts Store directly in front of you. Turn left onto Mission Road (Knoll Road dead ends at Mission Road and you must make a turn). Continue on Mission road for approximately .5 (one-half) mile. Palomar College will be on your right side. There is a stop light at the entrance into the college. The first building on the left as you enter the campus will be the Campus Police Department. Palomar College
What is Palomar College?
Palomar College is a two-year community college with an enrollment of approximately 30,000 full-time and part-time students. Palomar College offers over 200 associate degree and certificate programs. Students may enroll into any of these programs, complete the first two years of a bachelor degree program, or choose from personal enrichment classes to enhance lifelong learning.

Why Palomar College?
The reasons are varied and vast! Here are the primary and most predominant reasons:

- Our Instructors have the same educational teaching requirements as do four-year colleges and universities.
B. Enrollment and tuition fees are only $20.00 per credit unit for California residents.
Mandatory Health Insurance Fees and parking permits are additional costs.
3. Palomar College courses offer real world job preparation with hands on training taught by real world industry professionals, not TA's or graduate assistants. Our degrees mean more than status. They mean employment.
4. Palomar College offers smaller classes where the students receive close personal instruction.
5. Palomar College offers free tutoring and self-help programs that are targeted to meet your individual specific needs.
6. Palomar College offers flexible scheduling and distance learning for those students with busy family and work schedules.
7. Palomar College actively solicits input from the surrounding business community in an effort to provide our students with real world skills and training. The training we provide to our students provides them with relevant, marketable and in demand skills.
8. Palomar College offers financial aid programs in the form of grants, loans and scholarships to assist students in meeting their educational costs. Applications for such aid is required and there are deadlines and time frames in which students must apply.
9. Palomar College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education.
-Full credit is given by the University of California, the California State Universities, and other major colleges and universities. Palomar College is also officially accredited by the American Dental Association, the Board of Registered Nursing, and the National League for Nursing.
10. Palomar College holds membership in the Community College League of California (CCLC), the American Council on Education (ACE), and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC). The College is approved for training of veterans and service members and is authorized under federal law to enroll nonimmigrant alien students. Accreditation information is available in the office of the Superintendent / President.
Palomar College Enrollment Procedures
1. Submit a Free Application -There is no application processing fee at Palomar College.
You may apply for admission to Palomar College by submitting an application online or by contacting the coaching staff and they will be glad to mail an application to you. To apply online, simply return to the Palomar College Home Page and "click" on Apply/Register. You will be prompted step by step in completing/submitting your application from this point on.
2. Contact the coaching staff as soon as you have completed/submitted your application for admission to Palomar College. They will assist you with the steps listed below. They will also provide you with a Class Schedule and a College Catalog to assist you with your enrollment.
3. Make an appointment to attend an Assessment Session. This is a "requirement" for all incoming Freshmen and transfer student-athletes who have not taken any College Level English or Math. It is necessary to take this assessment exam prior to enrolling into any of your classes. Save the sheet of paper indicating your assessment test results that you will be given at the conclusion of your assessment exam. You will need this paper when you meet with our Athletic Academic Advisor, Steve White. He can be reached at 760-744-1150 ext. 3052. Wendy Homuth can be reached at extension 2358.
4. Make an appointment to meet with Steve White or Wendy Homuth the Palomar College Athletic Academic Advisors. They will assist you in setting up your class schedule around the Basketball Time Requirements (we have basketball classes class daily from 12-3pm) and your work schedule in order to avoid class conflicts. In addition, they will assist you in setting up your Two-Year Educational Plan which insures that you are progressing satisfactorily towards completing your two-year general education requirements.
5. Meet with the coaches again after you have taken your assessment exam and have set up Your Class Schedule and Educational Plan with the Athletic Academic Advisor. This is necessary to insure that there are no conflicts between any of your classes and basketball.
6. Enroll into your classes the day that Your PAR date is effective. Do not delay enrolling into classes as they will fill up quickly. Pay your fees in a timely manner so as to insure that you are not dropped from any of the classes in which you have chosen to enroll.
7. Women's Basketball practice time is everyday between 12:00pm noon until 3:00pm. Do not schedule academic classes during that time period.
The Palomar College Athletic Academic Support Program

1) This Program puts you in contact with an Athletic Academic Advisor/Counselor who understands the delicate nature that is required for a student-athlete to be able to balance both their academic and athletic schedules and place a high degree of emphasis/priority to each of these areas equally. 2) This Program provides each student-athlete with guidelines on how to become a "successful" college level student-athlete. 3) This Program creates an overall successful educational experience for each and every student-athlete. 4) This Program will effectively evaluate each student-athletes' educational abilities and needs. 5) This Program provides free support services and tutorial assistance tailored to meet the needs of each individual student-athlete. 6) This Program provides each student-athlete with a Two-Year Educational Plan and provides assistance in insuring that each student-athlete stays on track within their respective plans. |
