SEASON: Won
the Comets' every-day catching job early in the
season and was named to the All-Pacific Coast
Conference team as an honorable mention selection
due to his outstanding defensive play. ... Threw
out 16 of 22 runners trying to steal and also
picked off four runners. ... Gunned down seven
straight runners attempting to steal entering the
from March 5-April 4. ... Also the conference's
premier catcher in the dirt. ... Had multiple-hit
performances against Saddleback on Feb. 10,
Irvine Valley on Feb. 16, eventual Pacific Coast
Conference champion Grossmont on Feb. 28 when he
singled to drive in the eventual winning run and
again against the Griffins on April 23 when he
doubled and drove in a run.
2002
POSTSEASON:
Singled, walked, reached base as a hit
batter and drove in a run in a 15-14 victory over
Los Angeles Harbor in the Southern California
Regionals May 11 at Casey Stengel Field in
Glendale. ... Also hit safely vs. Glendale that
evening in a game in which the Comets were
eliminated after leading 4-1 in the seventh
inning.
2001
SEASON: Played
in 15 games as a catcher and designated hitter
during the season, starting seven of them
including two during Easter week and one during
the Southern California Regionals. ... Backed up
Jake Guzman, who was drafted and signed by the
Kansas City Royals after the season, at catcher.
... Singled to drive in former Carlsbad teammate
Ralphie Marin with the winning run in the bottom
of the ninth inning Feb. 4 against Los Angeles
Pierce. The 6-5 victory gave the Comets the
championship in the Palomar Invitational
Tournament. ... Singled to drive in a run in the
Regionals against Cypress as the Comets rally in
the sixth inning to close a 6-0 deficit to 6-5 in
a game Palomar eventually lost.

SCHOOL: Played
three seasons on the varsity at Carlsbad HS for
Pete McKey as a sophomore, Matt Parker asd a
junior and former Palomar star Randy Davila his
senior season. ... Wasan All-Avocado League
selection both as a junior and senior, when he
was Carlsbad's Defensive Player of the Year. ...
Also played basketball for Carlsbad on a CIF-San
Diego Section championship team.
