hat you need to know about Microsoft Windows XP and Internet Explorer before you take the new PeopleSoft 8 Training.

There are 14 skills in the list below.  If you are uncertain how to perform a skill, click the item and an explanatory page will appear.  In addition to Windows XP and Internet Explorer, some of the explanations below assume that you have Microsoft Word, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat installed.  If you need these programs, contact the Information Services help desk at ext. 2140, or helpdesk@palomar.edu.  


Core Skills

  1. How to keep several windows open at the same time.

  2. How to change the display size of your desktop.

  3. How to determine when a file was last updated and how large it is.

  4. How to store and retrieve files from the My Documents folder.

  5. How to copy and paste objects to the Window's clipboard.   

  6. How to capture a screen image and paste it into a Word document. 

  7. How to use the F-11 shortcut to see a "full-screen" display. 

  8. How to create a shortcut to a web site on your desktop. 

  9. How to add and organize favorites in Internet Explorer.

  10. How to print from Internet Explorer.

  11. How to create a new file.

  12. How to use "drag and drop" in Word or other applications. 

  13. How to open and print reports from Adobe Acrobat.

  14. How to select and create an Excel file from a list of data.
