bullet Laptops are only for use in the Palomar College Library and cannot be removed from the library building.

bullet Laptops will be available on a first come, first served basis. They cannot be reserved ahead of time.

bullet Check-out is for 2 hours with a possible 2-hour renewal unless the laptops are scheduled for a class, in which case they must be returned after the initial 2 hours.  Laptops may only be checked out or renewed at the Academic Technology help desk on the ground floor of the library.  Classroom reservation of laptops takes precedence over individual checkout.  Possible checkout times, therefore, may vary depending on classroom lab schedules.

bullet Laptops must be returned in person to the ATRC help desk.

bullet Laptops will not be checked out when there are less than 2 hours before the ATRC help desk closes.

bullet If you have previously violated this checkout agreement, you will not be allowed to check out a laptop.

bullet You may not save your work to this laptop, but instead you must save it to a removable storage or email it to yourself.

bullet Laptops are not configured for printing.  If you need to print, email the document to yourself, or otherwise save it (see above) and print it from the ATRC permanent lab.

bullet You may not remove installed software or hardware from the laptop or otherwise change its configuration.

bullet Headphones may be checked out with the laptops upon request.  You are responsible for returning the headphones along with the laptop.

bullet You must observe the guidelines for access and use of college telecomputing devices, and also the student code of conduct while using the laptop:

Fines & Liability

bullet Laptop late-return fees are $10 for each hour or portion of an hour the laptop is late.

bullet If you lose or significantly damage a laptop, you will be responsible for reimbursing the college for the recovery, repair or replacement of the system.

bullet You must sign the following statement, which stays on file in the ATRC, assuming full legal and financial responsibility for the laptop and any related peripherals while it is checked out to you:  check out agreement and policy statement [PDF format].
