The AT Faculty Mentor Programs
The office of the Academic Technology Coordinator, in collaboration with the Professional Development Program, is offering two new technology mentoring programs for Palomar College faculty:
Application forms for participants in these programs for the Spring 2004 training period will be open until February 6. Complete details for each program are listed below.

Online Instructor Mentor Program - Online Application
The purpose of the Blackboard Mentor Program is to create a pool of experienced Blackboard Course Management System (Bb) users from among the Palomar College Faculty, permanent and adjunct, who can assist new and beginning Bb users in using the system, and advise their departments on the best use of the Bb system.
Participants in the Mentor Program will earn Professional Development credit with some or all of the following activities:
q Assist the Academic Technology Coordinator in conducting regular Professional Development Training Classes for Palomar College Faculty in Blackboard. q Serve as Blackboard Advisors to their respective departments on the use of Blackboard. q Individually assist new or continuing Blackboard users in learning the system and new upgrades to the system. q Receive annual training updates from the Academic Technology Coordinator and AT staff in the use of Blackboard, including training in annual upgrades to the system. q Post office hours on the Academic Technology web page when the Mentor is available to assist other Faculty in the use of Blackboard, or accept email or phone calls on Bb use.
Participants in the Blackboard Mentor Program will receive from 20 – 50 hours of Professional Development credit per year, depending upon the level of participation and commitment to the program for that year.
The purpose of the Online Instructor Mentor Program is to create a pool of experienced Online instructors from among the Palomar College Faculty, permanent and adjunct, who can assist new and beginning Online instructors in learning the necessary methods and tools for teaching online classes at Palomar College, and to advise their departments on this area.
Participants in the Mentor Program will earn Professional Development credit with some or all of the following activities:
q Assist the Academic Technology Coordinator in conducting the annual Teaching Online training classes in the necessary methods and tools for teaching online classes, offered as part of the Professional Development program for Palomar College Faculty. q Participate in the Teaching Online Roundtables offered by Professional Development every semester. q Serve as Online College Advisors to their respective departments on the online curriculum for their department. q Receive annual training updates from the Academic Technology Coordinator and AT staff in the use of Blackboard and other technology suitable for the delivery of online courses. q Individually mentor per year one new Online College faculty member during their first year of teaching online at Palomar College.
Participants in the Online Instructor Mentor Program will receive from 20 – 50 hours of Professional Development credit per year, depending upon the level of participation and commitment to the program for that year. Participants should have at least three semesters/terms of experience as Online instructors at Palomar College.
