Digital Arts

Increasingly art is being made on and for computers. Many of the design and illustration tasks that were done in the past by hand are now done digitally. Much of the art that is now produced on computers was never, nor could have been, produced by hand. The digital arts explore some of these computer generated art concepts and techniques.

All of the digital art courses taught in the Palomar College Art Department place aesthetic considerations before technical ones. The techniques are learned but the results must be art. Our reputation depends on it and we take it seriously. Courses that emphasize technique can be found elsewhere on campus.

A variety of graphic and multimedia sofware programs are learned using the Macintosh platform. Courses in digital arts are meant to supplement, not replace, hand fabrication concepts and skills
