Cassie Trevino, Shelby Gunderman, Scot Golia, Perry Kroh, Tim Wolfe, Sheena Sullivan, Tanya Duer,  Cory Handa, Retha Handa, Amanda Wurangian, Kathleen Dickey, Manuel Galaviz, Nathan Parada, Paulo Medina, Suzanne O'Neill, and Bryan Sutt, and Alejandra Lamas-Vasquez.


Cassie Trevino

In 2003-4, Cassie has taken both beginning and advanced excavation at SDI-12510/H, archaeological surveying at Rancho Cuyamaca State Park, and laboratory analysis.  She has also participated in surveys and test excavations with Professional Archaeological Services, including at RIV-7943H.  In 2005-06, she has served as both field and lab assistant for the Palomar Program.  In the summer of 2006 she also worked with a group of elementary school children in a Science for Kids Program sponsored by Palomar College.


Shelby Gunderman
Shelby came to Palomar with B.A. in another field but decided she wanted to do archaeology.  She took Beginning Excavation at the Poway site, SDI-15547, and Archaeological Surveying at Cuyamaca; she was then accepted for a 5-month internship in historical archaeology at Ferry Farm (PowerPoint), the childhood home of George Washington.  She returned to take Historical Archaeology at Palomar.  Shelby also worked for Professional Archaeological Services as a lab assistant and did some surveys and excavation at RIV-7943H. She is now doing surveys near Yuma for ASM Affiliates.  She was just accepted into the M.A. Program at San Diego State.

Scot Golia
Scot works full time but decided he wanted to change careers.  He began the Archaeology Program in the Spring of 2006 with Archaeological Surveying at Cuyamaca, Beginning Excavation at the Poway Site, SDI-15547 (Fall), and is currently taking Archaeological Lab Analysis with Prof. Eighmey. He has participated in artifact cataloging and flotation as well as archaeological surveys and test excavations in Borrego Springs , Fallbrook and Valley Center with Professional Archaeological Services.

Perry Kroh
Perry Kroh joined the program in the Spring of 2006 for the Archaeological Surveying class at Cuyamaca and then took Beginning Excavation at the Poway site, SDI-15547 in the Fall. He is currently taking Archaeological Lab Analysis with Prof. Eighmey.  Perry has participated in a surveys in Fallbrook and Valley Center and test excavations at SDI-18281 and -18282 in Borrego Spring with Professional Archaeological Services.

Tim Wolfe
Tim started at the Poway Site, SDI-15547, where he took Beginning and Advanced Excavation.  He has taken Archaeological Surveying at Cuyamaca, Historical Archaeology, and now Archaeological Lab Analysis. Tim has been a paid intern at the Cleveland National Forest since Fall 2006 getting experience in GIS, site data recording, and fieldwork.  He has also worked for Professional Archaeological Services on surveys and test excavations in Borrego Springs at SDI-18281 & -18282 and in Riverside at RIV-1743H.  He served as a lab assistant in the Palomar Lab and will be Field Assistant for the Palomar Excavation Class in the Fall of 2007.

Sheena Sullivan
Sheena has completed Beginning and Advanced Excavation, Archaeological Surveying at Cuyamaca, Historical Archaeology, and is taking Archaeological Lab Analysis.  Sheena has worked in the Palomar Lab processing and cataloging artifacts.  She has also participated in surveys and is currently doing cataloging, data entry in MS Access and flotation for Professional Archaeological Services.  In the Fall of 2007, Sheena will serve as Field Assistant for the Palomar College Excavation Class.

Tanya Duer
Tanya has completed Beginning and Advanced Excavation at the Poway Site, SDI-15547, Archaeological Surveying at Cuyamaca, Historical Archaeology, and is taking Archaeological Lab Analysis.  She is currently serving as Lab Assistant in the Palomar Archaeology Lab and has been accepted in a paid internship position for historical excavations at Ferry Farm, the childhood home of George Washington. She will again serve as Lab Assistant for the Palomar Program in Fall 2007. She has worked on surveys, test excavations and cataloging in MS Access for Professional Archaeological Services.  She served as the Secretary of the Palomar Archaeology Club.

Cory Handa
Cory has completed Beginning and Advanced Excavation at the Poway Site, SDI-15547, Archaeological Surveying at Cuyamaca, Historical Archaeology, and is taking Archaeological Lab Analysis. Cory has also worked in the Palomar lab on artifact processing and cataloging.

Retha Handa
Retha has completed Beginning and Advanced Excavation at the Poway Site, SDI-15547, Archaeological Surveying at Cuyamaca, Historical Archaeology, and is taking Archaeological Lab Analysis.  Retha has also worked in the Palomar Lab on artifact processing and cataloging.

Amanda Wurangian
Amanda has completed Beginning and Advanced Excavation at the Poway Site, SDI-15547, Archaeological Surveying at Cuyamaca, Historical Archaeology, and is taking Archaeological Lab Analysis.  Amanda has participated in archaeological surveys with Professional Archaeological Services. 

Kathleen Dickey
Kathleen has completed Beginning Excavation at the Poway Site, SDI-15547, Archaeological Surveying at Cuyamaca, Historical Archaeology, and is taking Archaeological Lab Analysis.  Last Fall, she began working as an intern on an important research project relating to the Indian cemetery and associated Luiseno sites near the San Diego Archaeological Center.  This Spring she will be doing research at the South Coastal Information Center on the same project.  She produced an excellent draft report in December.  It has been suggested she use this research material for an M.A. Thesis at San Diego State University.

Manuel Galaviz
Manuel  has completed the Beginning and Advanced Excavation at the Poway Site, SDI-15547, Archaeological Surveying at Cuyamaca, Historical Archaeology, and is taking Archaeological Lab Analysis.  Manuel has participated in archaeological surveys in Borrego Springs and Valley Center with Professional Archaeological Services.

Nate Parada
Nate has taken Beginning Excavation at the Poway Site, SDI-15547; Historical Archaeology, and is now taking Archaeological Lab Analysis.

Paulo Medina
Paulo has a B.A. in Anthropology from UC Santa Barbara.  Since he came to Palomar, Paulo has taken Archaeological Excavation at the Poway Site, SDI-15547, in the Fall of 2006 and is currently taking Archaeological Lab Analysis.  He is also working on an archaeological GIS project with Dr. de Barros relating to the latters' work in Togo, West Africa.

Suzanne O'Neill
Suzanne O'Neill participated in the excavations at the Poway Site, SDI-15547, in the Fall of 2006 and then was accepted into graduate school.  Congratulations Suzanne!

Bryan Sutt
Bryan took Beginning Excavation in the Fall of 2006 and is currently taking Archaeological Lab Analysis.

Alejandra has completed Beginning and Advanced Excavation at the Poway Site, SDI-15547, Archaeological Surveying at Cuyamaca, Historical Archaeology, and is taking Archaeological Lab Analysis.  She has also worked in the Palomar Lab on artifact processing and cataloging.
