The Emergency Medical Technician program prepares students in all elements of pre-hospital basic life support. An EMT certificate is a prerequisite
for Palomar College Fire Academy.
PREPARATION FOR
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
High school students are recommended to complete
anatomy, english, foreign languages, and speech.
Also, students must be certified in Advanced First Aid or Emergency Response.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
Emergency medical technicians are employed by
private ambulance companies, emergency centers, hospital emergency departments, and most fire
departments.

THE PROGRAM
The Medical Assisting program at Palomar College offers complete training for students who want to receive a degree or a certificate with the specialization in clinical medical assisting or administrative medical assisting. Graduates qualify to take the CCMA and RMA exams.

In the field of medical assisting there are many
jobs available to graduates of the program including:

The Registered Dental Assisting Program at Palomar College qualifies students to take both state (RDA) and the national examination (DANB).
PREPARATION FOR
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS
Chemistry, biology, anatomy, english, speech, and art are some of the recommended classes to take while in high school. Students are also encouraged to take college english classes and Intro to Dental Sciences and Occupations at Palomar.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The career opportunities available to graduates of the program are in pediatric, orthodontic, oral surgery, endodontic, general and cosmetic dental offices and clinics.
