How can I find out the status of the position I applied
for or my application?
The easiest way to check the status of any
positions for which you have applied is to visit
www.palomar.edu/hr/palomarjobs.htm and click on the link
for the appropriate position type (i.e. "Full-time Faculty
Positions" if you applied for a full-time faculty position).
After the close date or first screening deadline, we update
the website with the status of the recruitment.
Additionally, at the time that Employment Services
schedules interviews,
we call or email all candidates who
are selected for interviews, and send letters via postal
service to candidates who have not been chosen.
If you wish to contact us to ask if we have
received your application, feel free to email us at
palomarjobs@palomar.edu or call us at (760) 744-1150
ext. 3024.

When will you contact me
regarding the position I applied for?
Since all recruitments at Palomar College differ in the
amount of time taken to arrive at the interview and hiring
phases of the process, we are unable to give you an exact
answer as to when you may receive notification.
If you
provide your email address on your application,
we will send an email to you within 1-4 weeks after the position
close date to confirm
receipt of your application. Generally, we begin
scheduling interviews 2-8 weeks after a position's first screening deadline, and you can
expect to receive notification about your application's
status at that time.
We call or email all candidates who
are selected for interviews and send letters via postal
service to all candidates who have not been selected for
interviews. If it has been more than two months since
the first screening deadline for
the position for which you applied and you still
haven't received a response, you may
contact Employment Services to learn the status of the
recruitment at
palomarjobs@palomar.edu or by calling (760) 744-1150
ext. 3024.

Can I find out more about a position by calling
the department the position is in?
Palomar College is committed to ensuring that every hiring
process is fair and consistent for all applicants.
Selection committee members are instructed to forward
all candidates' questions to Employment
Services in order to maintain impartiality throughout the
process. We therefore discourage candidates from
speaking directly to selection committee members or
individuals in the department in which the position is
located.
Most, if not all, of the
questions that applicants have about the position and
employment procedures may be answered by reviewing the position announcement and application materials.
The "Information for Applicants" page of the application is
especially helpful. You
may also visit the department website if available to learn
more about the department. If, after reviewing those
items, you find that you still have questions,
please contact Employment Services at
palomarjobs@palomar.edu or (760) 744-1150 ext. 3024. We will then contact the
appropriate individual(s) with your inquiry on your behalf
and forward the response we receive to you.

Why is a position being advertised as "reopened"
or "search extended?" Do I have to apply again?
Palomar College reserves the right to reopen or extend a
recruitment if we did not receive enough qualified
applications during the initial recruitment to conduct
interviews. We may also reopen a position in order to
enhance the depth of qualifications of the
applicant pool. In some circumstances, a
hiring committee may be unable to fill a position after
conducting interviews, and we may then reopen the position
to establish a new applicant pool. When a search is
extended or reopened, Employment Services sends letters to
all candidates indicating further information about the
recruitment, including whether a new application will be
required or not.

Can Palomar College pay or reimburse me for
application and/or interview expenses?
We
regret that as a non-profit public educational institution, we are
unable to reimburse most applicants for expenses incurred during
the application and/or interview process. For full-time
faculty and some administrator positions, however, we
typically conduct two levels of interviews and are able to reimburse those candidates who live 150 miles or
more from the College for some travel expenses incurred during
the interview process. If you have further questions
regarding reimbursement of interview expenses, please
contact us by sending an email to
palomarjobs@palomar.edu or call us at (760) 744-1150
ext. 3024.

Can
I interview via telephone or videoconferencing?
Due to the nature of our hiring process, to ensure fairness
and consistency for all interviewees, Palomar College
only conducts interviews in person on our campus. We
are unable to interview candidates by telephone or
videoconferencing. If you are invited to an interview, you
will be required to come to the campus for your
interview.
