Parking:

Candidates who have been invited to interviews at the main campus should park in the main parking lot in Staff Lot 1 (click here to view the campus map), which is accessible via the main entrance to the campus.  Please note: The main campus is currently undergoing heavy construction and nearly half of Staff Lot 1 is being used to house modular buildings.  If no spaces are available in Staff Lot 1, the next closest place to park is Student Lot 15, located in front of the Howard Brubeck Theatre.

Parking permits are required during the week. Free two-hour visitors' parking permits are available at the Campus Police kiosk in the driveway of Staff Lot 1, or the Campus Police office, which is located to the left side of Staff Lot 1.  If you have been invited to interview for a full-time faculty or administrative position, or if the interview process is scheduled for more than two hours, we will mail a one-day visitor's permit to you.  Please note: any vehicle that is not displaying an appropriate parking permit may be subject to citation by Campus Police.

Parking spaces for vehicles displaying parking placards for those with disabilities are located along the northern edge of Staff Lot 1 directly in front of the Administrative Services (A) and D buildings.

Candidates who have been invited to interviews taking place at other locations may or may not need parking permits depending on the interview location.  We will notify you when we schedule your interview where to park and whether a permit is needed.

Where to report:

Interviews at the main campus:

For weekday interviews, please report to the Human Resource Services office at the appointed time given to you when we scheduled your interview.  A Palomar College employee will meet you to take you to the interview location or pre-interview activity location.  The HR office is located in room A-1, Administrative Services building, which is located adjacent to the main parking lot.

For weekend interviews, report to the flagpole, which is visible from Staff Lot 1 unless otherwise directed.  A Palomar College employee will meet you there and take you to the interview location or pre-interview activity location.

Interviews at other locations: Directions on where to report will be given to you when we contact you to schedule your interview.

Candidates for full-time faculty and administrative positions will receive a campus map indicating where to report with their interview confirmation materials.

Driving time: Traffic in San Diego County and surrounding areas is often very heavy, and several major road construction projects are currently underway throughout the county.  Candidates should therefore allow themselves extra time when driving to Palomar.  Generally, from downtown San Diego and San Diego International Airport, Orange County, and Riverside County, it can take from 45 minutes to 2 hours to drive to Palomar.  From the Los Angeles area, driving time may be 2-3 hours.

Local airports: Most major airlines have operations at San Diego International Airport-Lindbergh Field (SAN), located in downtown San Diego, which is the largest airport in the county.  A small local airport, McClellan-Palomar Airport (CRQ/CLD), is located in Carlsbad, a 15-25 minute drive from the College.  United Express and America West Express operate flights through this airport.  Click here for McClellan-Palomar Airport's flight schedule.

Public transportation: Inland North County's new commuter train, the Sprinter, has a station directly across the street from main entrance to the main campus.  The Coaster, the commuter train that serves coastal cities in the county, connects with the Sprinter at the Oceanside station. A bus station for North County Transit District buses is also located at the main entrance to the College.  Click here to visit the North County Transit District's website for schedules and additional information.

If you are using public transportation, please ensure that your transportation schedule will allow you to arrive earlier than the time of your appointment.

Travel reimbursement: Palomar College is unable to reimburse candidates for interview expenses for classified, Child Development Center teacher, and most supervisory and mid-level administrator positions.  Finalists for full-time faculty and higher-level administrator positions, however, may be reimbursed for some travel expenses associated with the second-level interview.  The District can only reimburse candidates who live a distance of 150 miles or more from the College.  If you are eligible for travel reimbursement, Employment Services will notify you of your eligibility at the time that your second-level interview is scheduled, and we will explain what expenses we can reimburse and what documentation is required for reimbursement.
