What makes Palomar a great place to work?

Palomar College is a two-year public community college located in demographically diverse North San Diego County, California.  As an educational leader committed to quality learning, we provide our community with the knowledge, information, skills, and aesthetic appreciation necessary to live responsibly, effectively, and creatively in an interdependent and changing world.  We serve approximately 30,000 students from a wide variety of backgrounds, and offer more than 300 Associate's Degree and certificate programs.  To learn more about our vision, mission, and values, visit www.palomar.edu/aboutpalomar.htm.

The College is devoted to embracing diversity in all of its forms, and equal opportunity is afforded all students, employees, and applicants for employment alike.  A variety of events are held at the College throughout the year that explore and celebrate diversity, including events hosted by the Campus Explorations Project; theatrical and musical productions offered through the Performing Arts department; and the Equal Employment Opportunity Advisory Committee's annual Unity in Diversity event.  This list only represents a small sampling of the opportunities available; other events are posted throughout the year on the District's events calendar.

The College is regarded as the cultural hub of North San Diego County.  Our 400-seat Howard Brubeck Theatre is the scene of highly regarded dramatic, dance, and musical productions. The Performing Arts Department also offers free musical performances to students, staff, and the public at Concert Hour, held at noon every Thursday during the fall and spring semesters.  Palomar's Boehm Art Gallery, offering free art exhibitions of local artists, faculty, and students, has gained a national reputation as a fine contemporary visual art space.  Each semester, the Art Department holds a glass and pottery sale for the public featuring the works of our students.  The College also offers planetarium shows to the public and has a beautiful five-acre arboretum featuring many rare plant species.

Permanent Palomar employees enjoy exceptional benefits, including fully employer-paid medical, dental, and vision benefits for employees working 20 or more hours per week and their dependents.  The on-campus Wellness/Fitness Center offers discounted membership (currently just $10 per month) to all permanent staff.  There are opportunities for all employees to become active in the campus community through a variety of activities and shared governance committees.  Additionally, each employee group holds a celebratory event, development day, or retreat annually to recognize the service and achievements of our staff, faculty, and administration.
