Ruth has been on the clinical teaching staff in the
Department of Medicine in the Division of
Dermatology as a volunteer for over 24 years.
PROFESSIONAL CAREER:
Dr. Ruth Larson is a board certified dermatologist
who received training at the UCLA Medical Center
in the treatment and diagnosis of skin, hair, and
nail diseases. She is a skin cancer
specialist, experienced in a wide range of surgical
techniques including MOHS micrographic surgery for
the removal of aggressive skin cancer. Dr.
Larson was made a member of the American College
of Mohs Surgery in recognition of her specialized
training and knowledge in this technique.
She has practiced in the Poway/Rancho Bernardo area
for over 25 years.
The Consumers’ Research Council of America has
awarded her in 2005, 2006, and 2007 with the
“America’s Top Physicians” Award.

PERSONAL INFORMATION:
Dr. Ruth Larson has been a practicing physician in
the Poway/ Rancho
Bernardo area for over 24 years. She also has
a Masters degree in teaching science. She has
taught middle school earth science and high school
biology before entering medical school.
Ruth’s husband, Alan Larson is also a practicing
physician in the Poway/Rancho Bernardo area and is a
trustee of the Palomar Pomerado Hospital Board, Leah
Marie, Ruth and Alan’s daughter is in nursing school
at USD and aspires to be a nurse practitioner.
David Michael, their son, is entering medical school
in the summer of 2008.
