Handouts and Quizzes
This page has handouts and quizzes for every level of English learner of just about
anything there is to practice in English. Some are created by our own instructors, but
there are links to hundreds of activities.

Read each sentence and decide if it is simple, compound, complex or compound/complex.
Then check your answers.
Read the sentences to find if they contain fragments, run ons, comma splices,
choppiness or are correct.
Complete each sentence with the present or past participle of the verb in parenthesis.
Fill in the blanks with "a," "an," or "the" where
necessary.
Decide if the underlined phrase is an infinitive, gerund or participial phrase.
Fill in the blank with the correct form of the verb.

These are short, computer-graded quizzes at the beginning and intermediate level. Your
knowledge of verb tense, prepositions and other miscellaneous grammatical structures will
be tested.
At this site, there are over 500 self-study quizzes for all different levels. The
topics include grammar, writing, vocabulary, geography, culture and trivia.
