Procedures
ORIENTATION
Seminar is required for all first-time lab students; this
seminar is given in person the first two days of the semester in the B-22
San Marcos campus lab. After
that, the Orientation Seminar is
available to students at the link below.
Students are encouraged to attend a live
Orientation; however, if you view
the Orientation below, please be
sure to:
ü
have your SELF-PACED OPEN-ENTRY/OPEN-EXIT
LAB PROCEDURES MANUAL in front of
you when viewing the seminar so that you can take notes, highlight text, and
mark text about which you may have questions;
ü
come into the B-22 lab to be checked in by lab staff before beginning any
lab coursework.
Self-Paced Open-Entry /
Open-Exit courses allow students flexibility in scheduling. Students can
register for any lab course listed below any time throughout the semester
depending on equipment availability. The courses can be completed quickly
depending on the hours students arrange; 32 hours of lab time is required
for each unit of coursework. When students finish their coursework, they
take the final exam. Students must complete all coursework by the end
of the semester. An instructor and a lab assistant are on duty during
open lab times. In addition, rotating lectures are given in the lab
and online throughout the semester covering individual course content.
