Web Page Creation
If you are a faculty member or represent an
academic department and do not currently have a Palomar College web
site, please contact Chris Norcross (ext. 3225 or
cnorcross@palomar.edu) or
Elaine Armstrong (ext. 2644 or
earmstrong@palomar.edu) for assistance in setting up your web
space, placing initial content there, and learning how to update the
site ongoing.
The easiest way to get a web site up and running, and to maintain one,
is to use our WordPress
implementation. If you would rather construct a web site from
scratch and edit the actual html, we support Expression
Web 4 as our new web editor of choice, and provide training on its use.
Expression Web 4 is available to part-time faculty members through our
Academic Alliance
program, and to full-time faculty members through the IS department. We
also support the use of Dreamweaver,, and our web servers fully support
Dreamweaver authoring, but we do not provide training on its use.
If you have an existing web site, we are currently in the process of migrating all Palomar web sites to a
new server platform, and you will be contacted by Chris Norcross of our
staff if any special actions are needed to complete your migration to
the new structure. The migration itself should be transparent to
users except for any fixes required by Chris.
Graphics Creation
If you need assistance with your small-scale graphics projects, creating
course banners or line art for Blackboard, for example, or creating art
work for an online ad, please contact Elaine Armstrong at ext. 2644 or
earmstrong@palomar.edu.
She can assist you in creating it.
Document Scanning
If you wish to scan documents into PDF format for your technology
enhanced, or online, classes please be sure the amount and type of
document meets the terms of fair use under the US copyright law.
Here are
links to fair use resources and a
fair use worksheet which may help you in making the determination.
We at Palomar College use the
policy guidelines of the University of California as a model.
If the scanning you wish to do does qualify as fair use, then contact
Elaine Armstrong at ext. 2644 or
earmstrong@palomar.edu for assistance.
Slide Scanning
We can scan 35mm slides in groups, creating graphics files at
various resolutions, or we have a slide scanner for faculty use
in room LL-111.
